Located east of University Ave between Mississippi and Exposition Avenues, Steele St and University Blvd, Bonnie Brae was developed in the 20s, and is home to one of urban Denver's most vibrant neighborhood commercial districts. The neighborhood's unusual street patterns don't follow the typical city street grid, and its winding streets surround an elliptical-shaped park. It’s a serene residential enclave, and it's beautiful homes, mostly built in the 30s and 40s, line the quiet streets.
Bonnie Brae’s History
Bonnie Brae’s land began its life owned by the Kansas Pacific Railroad. When George W. Olinger - a Denver Businessman - later purchased the land as part of a new development in the 1920s, it became part of Denver. Borrowing the charming winding streets of Scotland, Olinger and his developers created what is now one of Denver’s most beloved neighborhoods. With home construction following the 20s and 30s architecture styles, the neighborhood maintains its nostalgic character and unique street patterns.
With many of its original constructions intact, homes range from cozy oldies to million dollar new constructions. Located just southeast of Downtown Denver happenings, the Bonnie Brae neighborhood offers the quiet neighborhood feel with accessibility to all the city has to offer! Plus, some of Denver’s favorite dining is located in the heart of Bonnie Brae for residents’ enjoyment.
