Jana qualifies as a ‘semi-native’ having lived in Denver since age 8. She has lived all over the city and southern suburbs, but has a special affinity for historic Denver neighborhoods. She enjoys matching clients with the right home and the right neighborhood to suit their lifestyle.

She started her real estate career after more than 20 years in journalism, politics, marketing and communications. Among her journalism credits, she covered the mountain region for USA Today, and authored "The Insiders’ Guide to Denver." Jana also spent 10 years with a leading political consulting firm running successful regional campaigns for the Denver Library, Denver Zoo, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District “Polar Bear” tax and other organizations.

She has spent nearly a dozen years in NW Denver. During that time she has completed several fix and flips and renovations. She specializes in helping clients see beyond the avocado appliances so they can make wise and affordable choices to enhance their home’s value and enjoyment.

Q&A With Jana…

Where do you LIVE?
I live in the West Highlands neighborhood of ‘Cottage Hill’. Out the back window I view the brightly painted new construction of “Old Elitch’s” and out the front I view the rich hues of classic NW Denver bungalows. I love being walking distance to Sunflower, Tennyson Shops and Highlands Square.

Why Real Estate... Aren't There Enough Agents On The Planet Already?
What can I say, I love helping people find their home. I understand and appreciate the personal nature of the process and know how important it is to have someone to trust and rely upon for good advice. Beyond that, it’s a natural fit for me. I have had a lifelong passion for architecture, old homes, renovations and remodeling. I tour open houses for fun. I even write a monthly feature called Renovation Spotlight in the North Denver Tribune.

What Music Is Currently In Your iPod?
I’m hooked on podcasts—National Public Radio, Slate Magazine’s Gabfest, This American Life. As for music, it’s Brandi Carlile, Natalie Merchant, David Gray, Lucinda Williams. I love Wilco and Radiohead (best Red Rocks concert) and a band called Earlimart. Oh, and the Shins, "Wincing the Night Away."

What Cause Gets Your Time And Money?
I’m very involved in my community. I do the marketing for The Sunnyside Music Festival (www.sunnysidemusicfest.org) and serve as “Social Chair” for the West Highland Neighborhood Association. For years my book club has sponsored Christmas for teens at The Gemini Shelter. One of my favorite national organizations is Heifer International (www.heiferfoundation.org) where donations help fund small scale, sustainable projects for individuals in poor and developing countries.

Give It Up. What Local Restaurant Is Your Best Kept Secret?
I love Potager in Capitol Hill. Many a meal at this sublime spot has made me weak in the knees. The menu changes monthly so there’s always something new. Closer to home my favorite spot is a window seat at Bistrot & A' Côté, at Z Cuisine. Try the mussels with shaved fennel. Close your eyes and you’ll think you’re in Paris. My new, new fave is Squeaky Bean on Tejon. Love their carefully considered menu; limited but always something delish.
