Are mortgage interest rates on the rise in Denver or are they going to stay this low forever?  While it would be nice to have 4% interest rates for years to come, the reality is unfortunately, not that realistic.  In a report out today from the Wall Street Journal, it appears that we have bottomed out and rates are on the rise.

According to the article, The Mortgage Bankers Association predicts rates on the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage will average 4.4% in the fourth quarter of 2010, increasing to a 4.7% average in the first quarter of 2011, and climbing to 5.1% by the end of next year. That is barring any "blockbuster" announcement from the Federal Reserve next month, said Jay Brinkmann, chief economist of the MBA.

So how will this impact the market?

Is now a good time to buy investment property in Denver?  It is a question that considering the incredible interest rates and great deals on homes, I am honestly surprised doesn't come up more.  The answer is, yes, for the right person.  I will go into that further, but let's look at what Denver has to offer for investment property at this time.

A quick update on our kitchen remodel. The countertops and sink are in, and most of the lighting is installed. We chose a black granite countertop because it looked a bit more 'period.' It reminded us of soapstone, but more durable. Its got a unique leathered texture, and a dull matte finish. The sink is hammered copper, and the pendant lights are in a antique bronze finish. Its actually starting to look like a kitchen, and it finally feels we're getting to the end of the project. At this point, we're about three weeks behind.

The declining size of U.S. homes hasn’t resulted in a decline in the appeal of plus-size furniture. (yet.) Online retailers such as Oversize Furniture, Living XL, and Brylane Home specialize in outfitting the homes of large-size customers, providing extra-wide seats and increased support. Other furniture makers are subtler, making furniture that is a little bigger without calling attention to it, retailers say.

This trend won’t last forever either, predicted Jerry Underwood, director of marketing for HOM Furniture. He said big traditional furniture appeals to baby boomers, but their echo boomer children like cleaner lines and smaller scale. "The big overstuffed [look] is going away rapidly," he said. - From Realtor Magazine
