The Colorado Dragon Boat Festival (CDBF) has become, in a few short years, the most recognized and celebrated Asian American/Pacific Islander cultural event in the Rocky Mountain region. From an audience of 15,000 in its first year, 2001, the Festival has grown to over 100,000 spectators from Colorado Dragon Boat Festiva lthroughout the region. Since inception, it has received many accolades and awards.

An exciting new grant called the Dream Makers program has been introduced that makes home ownership for first time Military buyers that much more realistic.  Offered by the Pentagon Federal Credit Union, Active duty personnel, veterans, retired members of the military, and employees of the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security may be eligible for a grant up to $5,000 to use on down payments and closing costs when buying their first home. The grants can be applied to a mortgage from any financial institution according to Realtor.com.

So what is going on with all the street construction on Tennyson Street?  If you have driven through there recently, it kind of resembles a war zone.  While it might keep some away right now, once the construction is over, people are sure to be flocking.  And with an expected completion date of November, it can't come quick enough. 

Right now, a $2.5 million dollar Streetscape is taking place on Tennyson Street from 38th to 46th in the Berkeley District.  By the end of the year, a new and transformed Tennyson St will greet you when you head out for a meal, to do a little shopping or take in some galleries.  The sidewalks will all be new and wider.  There will be lots more spots for safely crossing the road.  Art will be displayed up and down the

Let me just say, completely on the record, that I have been LOVING the daily rainstorms in Denver lately!

They remind me of countless afternoons spent huddling under the ride covers at the old Elitch's Amusement Park, where I worked in the summers through high school.  I used to love running for cover and waiting out the storm, watching the rain drive out the crowds and then seeing how clean and shiny everything looked when the rain stopped and the rainbow appeared right above the old merry-go-round.
